Was eating until yesterday. Trying to rescue from a local pet shop. Anything I can do? He just had 2 days in QT with Furan-2 and Kanoplex. Breathing heavy.

Any help is appreciated.

I will start out by saying I'm not an expert but I've recently been thrown to the wolves with a blue tang i saved from Petco(with expert advice from here she's still alive), are you aerating the tank heavily, have you used any bacteria like biospira to combat ammonia? Do you have any methelyne blue?

Looks like uronema, dose metro at the higher range of 2 scoops per 10 gallons. Treat for 14 days, dosing every 48 hours.

Also, uronema can spread INTERNALLY so you’ll want to feed metro + focus soaked food for 14 days as well.

Be VERY careful not to cross-contaminate between this QT and your DT. Once you get uronema in your tank it is not easy to get out. There is no fallow period, so would require a complete breakdown/sterilization.

Thank you. Does copper help? I have 5 fish in QT and this is the only one showing any signs. I am not currently treating with Copper at all. Or just metro in the water and in the food?

Copper doesn’t treat uronema, and is an immunosuppressant... so I would skip it for now. If you want to treat prophylactically for ich/velvet once this has been resolved, that would be a good idea.

Well I am really not sure what this was but this is how it looked after death. Can anyone confirm what I was fighting? I don’t want it to spread to the remaining fish in QT.

+1 uronema. Butterflies are so difficult, I picked up one brought him home he ate that night and the next day got the same thing and died. All within 24 hours. They just have a tough time in transfer which blows cause they are such cool fish
