Any one here buy a battery backup like UPS ? I dont have the space for a generator. If you ahve what size did you go with i was thinking a 1000w. I have a Sicce 6.0, Skimmer and two mp40's to run the lights can stay off for a few days.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I run an ACP 1500 with hot swapable addtional battery. My return pump and a tunze are the only things it backs up. It will run them for a couple days. I also have an older UPS i modified to supply 12V directly in a power outage. It lasts longer not having to convert to 120V AC and back to 12 or 24 volts DC and is simple to do.

Have you actually test run the ACP with your pumps? It says it'll run 100w for a little over an hour. The smallest return pump that I see is the MightyJet Mini 266 and that is 13 watts. So according to the website, the ACP 1500 should only run the MJ 266 for about 10 hours. I'm looking into backups also since I'm currently on the opposite coast of hurricane Ian and it got me thinking. 10 hours is enough for me since I have a generator, I just need something to get me through the storm so I can hook it up.

Yes, I have tested it for 6 hours or so without any issues. I do have the additional add on battery pack which makes a big difference. On my old tank with external pump it ran a bit hotter than normal. That is do the the AC wave form not being the exact same as comes from the power company. I have had the power go out on several occasions. And the tank was fine each time with no losses.
Many pumps draw more current than they are rated at because the manufactures do not include the current draw of the power supply. This is faulted advertising in my book.
To get the longest run time you want to run DC pumps directly off the batteries in an outage. Using a battery back up to run a 12 or 24 volt DC pump using the pumps power supply waste a lot of energy. This is do to losses converting 12 V DC to 120 V AC then back to 12VDC again. Each step uses power.
