Buying a clownfish "couple"

Are there any websites that will let you buy a female and male clownfish? I asked LA, and they said that they can not.

Well If you start with two small ones they naturally become a pair since the more dominant clownfish turns into the female and her bullying the male suppresses the hormones that allow that change to occur. If something happens to the female and the male is no longer being harassed he will become the new female. I'm surprised LA said they couldn't since every young pair they would ship out would end up being male and female, or at least take the time to explain it to you.

I am not sure when they are considered "small", but their website here says they are "medium", so not sure if their sex would already be decided.

Why so expensive for a pair!?

They're designer clownfish. Plus they're bonded already. You may find cheaper occs and percs at your LFS, but designers will almost always be in the 100s, sometimes even each. My 2 designer clowns were 85 and 75 each, and they never paired.

Sex is never decided. Clownsfish, like tons of saltwater fish, can and will change genders

Although no offense but it sounds like you haven’t done enough research to be purchasing a clownfish.

You should learn more first.
