This is my first tank, I am finally to the point of adding a yellow tang :) other stock includes a snowflake and a black ocellaris clown fish, a goby, and a coral beauty angel. Any tips on taking care of/maintaining a tang as I have been told they are ich magnets and require alot of care.

QT the fish before adding to your tank and you remove the chances of ich.

Besides QT, feed a variety of foods including nori and other herbivore/omnivore foods and have a tank at least 4' long ;)

I have a 75 long so that shouldn't be a problem, and I heard putting a seaweed clip in the tank would be very benificial for a tang

Well, putting it in there with nori sheets is beneficial, but you don't want to leave it in there. For one tang I would tear off a sheet about the size of a playing card and fold it over once or twice, clip it on, and take any uneaten food out no more than an hour later.

I used to have issues keeping yellow tangs alive. I went through three before I figured out that they weren't eating pellets or Mysis, so I was basically starving them to death. So before I tried another one I made sure to get a seaweed clip and some seaweed. The yellow tang I got after that is now a year old and doing great, so it would appear that finding the right food was critical. Ironically, that tang recently began eating pellets and Mysis.

Be sure to quarantine all new fish for a minimum of 4 weeks. I have found tangs like open space and i also see them sleeping in between the rocks at night. I like to build rock structures that allow them to swim around and in between, I have just found they look happier. Nori is always good to feed a couple times a week. I personally only feed nori every couple days but they are happy to take it every day. Best of luck

75gal will be fine till it grows, 100 gal is recommended the fish will reach 8 inchs. Aggresson may be a problem. I love those fish

I currently have a yellow tang and he is not territorial at all. Guess I got lucky. He will graze on a clip but is very good on flake food. I don't even give him the clips any more he grazes on the rock. He is probably the nicest fish in the tank

But I may have just got lucky I have a 125 gal. With 8 fish all of witch are in great shape
