Buying Berghia Nudibranchs

I’m interested as well. These Aiptasia are killing me...

I’ve tried filefish peppermint shrimp and aiptasia x. The matted filefish and peppermint shrimp worked . However, once the aiptasia population dwindled so did my zoa colonies. Aiptasia x is a pain. I do not have the time it takes in order for it to work properly.

I’ve had bad luck with Aiptasia x and kale paste. Seems like it is working and then small Aiptasia show up everywhere...

Please try to use joes juice. Has always worked effectively for me. Just make sure you apply it correctly the first time or else it will survive and most likely spread. I’ve had the same issues with peppermint shrimp in my old tank, they will go after the zoas. They are not reef safe. Good luck!!

i'm giving Franks aiptasia killer. It should be coming this week. I've heard good things about it's effectiveness.

Where is a good place to buy berghia nudities from?
Salty Underground, I have bought from them with great success and plan to buy from them again.

Too expensive. Pick up a matted filefish, preferably captive raise, Pacific East Aquaculture is where I bought mine, and your problem will be solved. Size doesn't matter. They hunt the spores first then make passes on the smaller scaling up. You will see them go after the larger ones in several passes. It is really interesting to watch how they go about their process. I have one in my 210 and it is by far one of the more favorite fish.

I love them but don’t love what the one I had did to coral once it had done away with the Aiptasia...

I have used a matted file after the aiptasia got scares they started eating my zoas. Thought about trying a captive bread one . Do to the fact that do the job, and and are easy to catch as far as fish go. I also thought the captive bred may not eat zoas. However, there is not guarantee of that. I’ve done my research. I’m thinking it’s one of those it or miss . I have high end zoas, and So want to try nudities.

If you have high end zoa's or anything that you paid enough that it isn't worth the risk, then no. I would say stay away even from the captive raised. I think it still falls into that "unknown" category so back to that question. What are you willing to tolerate or accept should it take a bite. I know back when I had a wild caught one my line was Xenia. Believe it or not I only had a small frag I bought so it didn't have time to take hold and my filefish at the time thought it was candy :) As you said a pretty easy fish to catch at night, which is what I did, and that was it.

The upgrade today had a problem with Aptasia so I needed to try something. I don't have zoa's. My Scopus and Lavender tang eat them believe it or not. Their buddy the coral beauty started them on it. Anyway I tried peppermints to no avail. I added one, then two, then three. Nothing that I can see yet the Aptasia keeps spreading. Picked up the captive raised fella. Size of a dime I kid you not. Tried to put it in the main display and it couldn't handle the flow. Over the overflow down into the sump. Tried a few ways to stop it, no luck. Put it in a breeder box until I could deploy a 5 gallon nano during the next water change. In it went. Waited about a month, then back into the display and it is doing its job.

Corals are some green button / pally things, test SPS frags of acro of unnamed, several rose bubble tips, xenia, green star polpys, cabbage, clam, Kenya tree, and monties I believe. That is about it more or less. Maybe a few other test corals. But so far it has left them all alone. Please don't use my experience has a go no go :)

I think you said it best. If you have something you care for then just ask yourself if it took a bite out of it would it be an acceptable loss. If not, then stay away :)

Best of luck though. I have now traced my Aptasia down to my sump and overflow. So I am guessing I will always have spores so this guy is a keeper since it keeps them in check. I think the naudies would probably clear everything - maybe.
