Hey everyone,

This is going to be my first online fish order and was wondering how you 9-5 guys do it? I'm assuming with overnight shipping, the package would get to my house around 10am or so and I'm not sure I want them sitting in the box until I get home.

So how do you guys do it? Take a day off from work?

I have the fish held at the shipping facility until I am off work and then go over. Also some charge extra but will ship for Saturday

I always have mine held at the shipping facility. Generally the vendors do a great job of packing, so temp isnt a concern, but jostling the packages around for an extra 6-10 hours is generally a better idea. If Im ordering fish that are "delicate" or "sensitive" I'll take the day off work, or at least the morning. If a box is held by the shipping facility, generally its available for pick up by 8am.

So they'd be able to sit in the box inside my house for a couple of hours?

I always pay the extra bucks for a Saturday, and always have them held at the shipping facility. I have had too many instances of livestock saying they would be delivered next day in the morning and not getting the box until the end of the day. So I prefer to pick up my packages.

I generally have mine delivered on Saturday but there's always the risk of a delay. I had Seahorses shipped from Florida and had them held at a pickup point. They were just fine waiting in the bag for an extra few hours.

If the weather is nice theyd be fine outside for a few hours. Otherwise have someone just put them in the house until you get home.

I've had fish drive around in the ups truck too 9pm and I had to chase down the truck to get my fish and they told me they don't have it then his partner was like we do have it..... [emoji854]

For weekday deliveries, I will request packages to be held at the closest UPS or FedEx store to me. In my experience, these packages arrive at the store first thing in the morning. Which means less bouncing around a hot/cold truck, and less stress. They open early, so it's possible to just take a half day instead of a full day off work.
