Evening all

Im finally setting up my redsea reefer 170 this week & as mentioned in a previous thread im using predominantly caribsea liferock & live sand.
I want to add some cured live rock to the setup for its bacteria benefits & to hopefully cut down cycling time.
Ive seen some for sale locally thats from a very well established system that is being closed down & looks pretty neglected.
My concern is elevated phosphate levels in the rock.
Im hoping a good soak in some fresh RODI will help leach this out but if anyome has any further advice id be grateful!

In addition to phosphates, there might be other elements that could potentially leach out as well (especially if it does look neglected). Soaking the rock in anything but saltwater (78°F) will probably kill most of the established bio media you'd be trying to preserve.
