So im sure alot of tou have bought your rock online. Im looking at buying a combination of pukani, tonga branch, and maybe something else to build a shelf with. My question however is what places have you had success with as far as packaging the rock. I know if it comes broken i could just epoxy it back together but also dont want to just get a box of rubble.

Dry or live? I got some dry AquaMaxx Tonga Shelf rock from @MarineDepot and it came in excellent condition. Not a crumbly mess at all.

I am still delayed on my build, but i am VERY happy with the rock.

I would say at least 40 lbs. of rock and up to 70 lbs. Some say 1-2 pounds per gallon, but that is a lot of rock to me. Much depends on livestock choices and if they are free swimmers or prefer caves. Also, what corals (if any) and where they need to be for best flow and light.

For large pieces of rock their are many options including @Bulk Reef Supply and Marco rocks just to name a few.

Standard 55 gallons are very narrow. I had one eons ago, but I actually really liked it a lot.

I should note I prefer minimalist aquascapes, but that is just my opinion.

I bought 40 pounds of dry reef saver from BRS. Most of it is 4" thick 5-6" wide and 8-10" long. Very minimal breakage. It shipped inside a plastic bag, surrounded by packing peanuts in a huge cardboard box. I'm building a 60g cube I also bought 10 lbs of live rock from my LFS to seed it. I will end up with about 10- 15 pounds in my sump. It's a lot of rock.

Sadly the only fish store around me is a petco withen 3 hours. So i dont think seeding is going to be an option not wanting to spend a whole lot to ship in some live rock unless I can find a website thats abit cheaper.
