Hi all
I'm looking at setting up a marine reef tank from scratch and a little worried about advice from my local shop maidenhead aquatics as not sure they just trying to sell me the most expensive stuff or not

I kind of have to get from them as they do a 0% interest loans as been saving but with kids and Christmas money just goes lol as you know

What kind of gear would you all recommend it has to be quiet as gonna be in front room
I have about 110mm-120mm room for tank

I've got fresh water fish at the moment but want to upgrade now

any advice would be great
cheers
Jay

Are those dimensions correct? Or do you mean cm's? I would typically advise against getting into the hobby by financing everything but that's a personal choice.

What are your goals? Do you know what livestock you wish to keep fish and coral wise?

What was there recommendation for equipment?

Lol yeah sorry cm's
as for livestock its gonna be some clowns, gobys, damsels, would like tangs be shop said would need bigger tank
not sure what kind of coral as loads to choose from
the tank the shop was talking about was a aqua oakstyle and then getting it drilled? and then he was just pulling other stuff off the shelf saying you need this you need that, started to baffle me a little
im looking at spending about £1200 on set up, ive got £600 to put down and borrow £600 over 6 months

1200 doesn’t seem too far off. Depending on the size of the tank. These days a good light can go for around 400+ then you got sand and rock chemicals filtration. The tank itself is almost the cheapest thing.
