I have a fully cycled 65 gallon tank with a built in sump attached to the back of it. It has corals and inverts everything just no fish. Some fish on my wishlist are some species of shrimp goby( with pistol shrimp) either a mimic filefish or a radial filefish and that is all I need to focus on for now. Which one of the filefish is more beginner friendly? What shrimp goby recommendations do you have? Thank you appreciated!

Personally I like the yasha goby, but the yellow watchman are very cool as well. No experience with filefish so idk :(. Would be a beautiful tank for something like a dwarf angel though!

I have a flameback and a cherub, neither have ever touched my corals. If you don’t starve them they won’t touch the coral :). Many people just don’t realize that the other fish are getting more to eat than the angels, they are not aggressive eaters. My cherub is best friends with my clowns! They never leave each other. You can see how fat my guy is

Dwarf angel( coral beauty or flame), firefish goby and small wrasse as is leather filefish.
What ever you buy, assure they are breathing normal, eating and no issues on their skin and accimate slowly

I'd go with the captive bred ones, I believe those are the radial filefish.

As for shrimp goby, with a tank that big, I have to recc Amblyeleotris randalli, or the orange stripe prawn goby. Smaller tanks get recommended Stonogobiops nematodes, but they get lost in the bigger tanks.

Do these not become corallivorous as they grow? I think they're cute lil buggers but that fear has always been in the back of my mind.

And to weigh in on the other stuff: I've kept a flame and a cherub (C. argi) that left my corals alone, but you are definitely gambling.

There is that chance I guess, I have a copperband, aip file fish and flame angel, so far so good. ;)
