Is there any downside to buying a used RODI system? There is a Spectrapure 90GPD RODI unit for $50 I'm thinking of grabbing but having never used an RODI unit, is it one of those low risk items to buy used or is it better to go new?

If you don't buy it, I will....that's a deal. I'd keep the membrane, but change all other filters (unless the seller told be he only used it a short period of time).
Worth it? It all depends.
How long has it been idle? Has the membrane dried out?
How long since it has been sanitized?
Assume all the filters need to be replaced unless you know otherwise
Do any orings need to be replaced to fix/resolve housing leaks?
Is there excessive rust?
Does the pressure gauge work?
Does it come with a TDS meter?
Does it come with a housing wrench?
Are the housings cracked/chipped?
BTW... Realize that what that system has is a re-labeled 75 gpd membrane.
I always recommend that if you've never owned an RODI system before, buy a new one. If you've already owned one and paid attention to it re maintenance/repairs, and are very familiar with how it works and what questions to ask, and you are handy, it may be ok to buy used.

Buying a used RODI is never a bad thing, as long as there are no cracks on the housings and typically if there are any broken fittings or missing items they should discount since you will need to replace it.
As above from Buckeye, make sure you ask proper questions on whats working, if a TDS meter is included, does it come with any accessories or manuals ect.
