I am getting ready to start a tank and looking at used full setups. I know there is always a risk when buying used. Any advice? I am still fairly new to the reef game. Are used setups something i should completely avoid

I run a used 240g tank. I just made the guy fill the tank to see if it would hold water. Actually I'd look for a used one first, over buying a new one.

Ya you can save a lot of money buying used sometimes my 75 I bought 4 years ago came with an overflow box an ati fixture skimmer and Powerheads only cost me $300. I just cleaned everything really well before I started adding water

What about if the inside silicone seams look a little bad but not leaking. Not the seam between the glass but just the seams inside the tank. Could you just scrape the old silicone out and put a new bead down without tearing the tank completely apart and causing no damage?

You would need to remove ALL of the inside silicone on all of the corners and redo all at once. Not worth it if you are not experienced with running silicone.
