BW BTA (1st split) —- Both are looking good!

Mine split a couple days ago (I am not too happy about, I don’t want to have to try and remove one and I don’t really want two in my tank).

Why not? Any specific reasons?

The other day I’d have to say it started about a week or so ago, I noticed my BTA stretching between two parts on the live rock. I began to think about a poss. split, but payed no mind.

About two days ago (8/5) I see the ‘nems mouth all the way to one side. I then really began to ponder, “I think the Anemone is splitting.” (In order to keep everything normal. I kept the light cycle the same. I did a 10% water change 8/6.)

(8/7/21) —- I woke up this morning to a beautiful baby anemone!! A natural split of the BTA. It seems to be doing well! Both of the anemones seem to be doing well and very happy. Both have stayed attached to the rock, from whom I believe to be the mother has been creeping slowing around the rock from this morning, still close but moving slowly.


*My first BTA split R2R friends. Is there anything I should be looking out for or watching for with these two. Like I said, they both seem to be happy. Whereabouts is mother going? I’d like to make sure all my boxes are checked off. Is there anything I should be doing.

Why not? Any specific reasons?

Just because they move around and sting other corals, my tank isn’t very big (28g) and is fairly densely stocked, so having more than one potentially wandering around is anxiety inducing.

Definitely a rainbow BTA. BW have a dark purple foot, no green at all, and kinda midnight blue streaks and tints on the oral disc.

Who cares what it’s called though - you’ve got some beautiful happy anemones there, I’m sure you appreciated them now as much as you did before. These names are totally invented by the hobby anyway - they’re all entacmaea quadricolor.
