I used nearly 3 gallons of Tech M in my 120g reef over around 2 months keeping my mag level up around 1700ppm+. This did not kill my bryopsis. I think its very interesting that 110reef's treatment described here did not kill his bryopsis as it is still living in the overflow of his tank... and his assumption that his grazers were really the cause of his bryopsis death in his display (the tech m only weakened the bryopsis and made it more vulnerable to the grazers). My tank has no grazers and thus my bryopsis did not die. I do know that many many others reported success using only tech m, thats why I was so discouraged with my lack of results.

Whats the key to eliminate bryopsis with Tech M in tanks with no fish/crabs/grazers??? or in areas like overflows and sumps???

btw, good write up, thanks! :)

I am guessing in the absence of grazers that you will need to pull it by hand, once weakened by the Tech M. A difficult and not very effective task. But imposible without the Tech M IME, since I used to pull the stuff by the handful, but it just grew back.

Or maybe find yourself a grazer that you can have til it gets cleaned up, then trade it or whatever if you don't want it long term.

Ok, so you have 60 gallon capacity, say 10 gallons for rock, i would treat for 50 gallons. But, check your mag levels as you do it, I hope you have a mag test kit. I think my goal was to raise my mag ~100 per day, I actually acheived 120/day, which seemed to work fine.

I was told to raise my mag to 1700+ to get rid of it. But did not use Tech M, just 2 part mag. It did not look as robust with the raised mag but kept speading. Everytime I prund it, was like tossin gas on a fire. I did a few water changes and got my mag down to 1400ish, then used tech m and raised it up to just over 1800. No m7 added at this point. It took a few days, about 3-4 but the byropsis is dieing off at a decent rate. It's turns white and then disapears. I did order some M7 just in case though. One thing I did notice was the difference between my brs 2 part mag and the kent. The Kent had a dark browinsh color to it with sediment, and the brs was clear. So far so good but to early to tell for sure. Also, just a guessing that since kent seems like the only one that works for most folks. There has to be an ingredient in it the others don't. If that is the case it might not work as well for some folks if there mag lvl is already up there and they don't have to add as much Kent. Just a theory though.

how important is it to kill the skimmer for a few hours, i have been dosing for a week now with mb7 and tech m, and i forgot to kill it at all, did i just wast the stuff

I just followed directions on the MB7 bottle. I am sure it won't make a difference with the Tech M, but it may have reduced the effectiveness of the MB7.

Have you seen any results yet? What is your mag up to?

Lettuce sea hares also love bryopsis and are very efficient at eating all of it in a short time span. Just putting it out there.
