Hello all, I had a ich outbreak in my tank, and behind I have so many fish, I decided to pull most for the live rock out, with the sps frags glued to them, and run them fallow for at least 45 days while I treat the fish in main tank.
I moved the rock and coral out nearly 3 weeks ago, about 100 pounds of rock, as well as 70-80 acros frags.
never saw byropsis in my main tank while the corals were in there. (Tank started up last November, corals in there since April/May)
now that corals are fishless , I am seeing fern like plants on the rock in the fishless coral trough (100 gallon Rubbermaid , 75 gallons of water, moved my lights over and a pump)
I don’t feed this tank, once a week I dose Red Sea aminos. I’d say the algae appeared over the last 7 days or so. Weird, didn’t have it in main tank (not that I saw) and moved rock along with water to trough. Figured it would be in main tank before, since fish don’t eat it anyway, plus now almost no food goes into to coral tank, so it’s not like I’m throwing in a ton of phosphate or detritus.
Is the reef flux worth a try in fishless bin? I did notice I killed some of it when I doser alkalinity, the stuff growing on icecap gyre turned white when I poured two part there (pump is only about an inch from surface, pretty easy to hit that pouring it in)
not running any filters, other than live rock that came from tank. It’s just, heater, icecap gyre and lights. No Carbon or gfo.
Any ideas? Oh I did add two frags while corals were separated about two weeks ago. Same place I buy from normally, did standard Bayer dip.
thanks
