Can anyone id what I’m dealing with here? It’s very hard to pull. Thriving near corals since my pincushion urchin cannot get to it

Could be a combo of both. I see some fern like pieces which indicates briopsis but then other pics look like GHA

Thanks!

I’ll plan on using fluc . Battling some what I think is cyno at the moment. Once that clear up, maybe it’s a good time for fluc

Why put harsh chemicals in your tank. I had a jungle and 3 urchins and couple turbos along with manual removal and raising magnesium to 1500 got rid of mine in 3 to 4 weeks.

I have a urchin. It cannot get to right spots where the algae thrive. For whatever reason turbos don’t last more than a couple of months. The urchin did a great job on the area it can get to.

my mag is already at 1500. Didn’t notice any different. Bump it up a month ago. I read that it could be the other ingredient in Kent Marine Mag and not magnesium itself that killed the algae. I could be wrong.

I battled a relatively minor issue with bryopsis for a long time. No cuc i tried even touched it. Fluc knocked it out in less than a week and my big regret is not doing it sooner.

And yes that definetely looks like bryopsis. May be some gha mixed in also

I used Kent also. I hand placed my urchins into the jungle and made them eat their way out.

Looks like both, but there are enough fern like structures mixed in there that at least half is bryopsis.

I would treat fluconazole for 1-2 weeks following the eradication of the bryopsis part. Continue normal to elevated water change schedule with fluconazole in your makeup water.

The raising mag trick was no longer effective back in 2016 when I last attempted it. Kent changed their formula and whatever was killing bryopsis was no longer in the formula. It's possible they changed their formula back, but it didn't work from at least 2016-2018.

Kent magnesium is not the same formula it was years ago when it worked for bryopsis. (I'm pretty sure you know this already as others have pointed it out to you in other threads where you make the same claim.)
Flucanozole is safe when used properly.

Worked for me turned my jungle white on the ends but my chaeto suffered a little also. Guess you don't know how to use it properly let me know if I can be of assistance.

I emailed Kent Marine directly and received a reply from Sam in product support. He advised that Kent's magnesium supplement formula has never changed or been modified. He said salt manufacturers have made changes to their formulations which may aid or inhibit contaminants but Kent's formula is the same.

Well, I guess you can learn something new everyday (if you are paying attention).
