It's taken over my tank. I bought some kent marine tech m to fight it. I have 150 gallons of total water volume. My mag is at 1425 ppm. I need to get it up to 1800. I've read i can raise it by 100 ppm a day. The directions for yhe tech m says that 1ml per gallon will raise the mag 18.3 ppm. I'm not sure how much to add at since my test kit (salifert) only goes up to 1500 ppm. I really need help and any advice is welcome. Thanks for any help

Here is a link to a dosing calculator: 'Reef Chemistry Calculator FV'

I am presently doing this treatment also, although I am trying 1650 ppm, not 1800. I may go higher though if I need to.

I would plug in 1425, and then your desired level of 1800. It will tell you how much of the Tech M to put in to achieve that. Then divide that amount by 3, and add that 1/3 each day for 3 days to get to 1800. Then test again a week later, and add whatever the calculator tells you to dose each week for however long that you want to maintain 1800.

And your test kit may not go to 1500, but you can extrapolate by simply adding however much it goes past 1500.

Ok that's a lot of help. I used one of those calculator but was never able to figure out how much of that to use at one time. I don't understand the testing part though

Was battling it for over a year. I tried the Kent Magnesium Tech M and had some luck. Then I removed as much as I could of the remaining by hand, then added a Yellow Tank and Starry Blenny...gone i about a week and has never come back since.

It also tells you how many ounces to add so that you can use a measuring cup. Add it slowly into a good flow area in the sump, or wherever you can. I have just bumped mine up to 1700 ppm, and have to add 12 ounces each week to maintain that. I tested 7 days apart and came up with how much is needed each week.

I had a vlamingi tang. It wouldn't touch it. I've read sailfin tangs have been known to eat it. I'm looking for a Desjardini Sailfin right now. DFW I've figured it out. I need to add 12 cups. I've been adding 2 cups a day. I've added 10 cups so far. I have decided not to do any water changes until it's done. So i shouldn't have to add anymore. I'm just going to skim heavy and minimum feeding. I only have 6 fish in my 150 so not a very large bioload
