C-shaped Aquarium Stand

They are hung onto blocking that is supported by the studs behind the drywall and then the studs are supported at both the bottom and top. This stand will not be.
... but it could be.
The other thing that could be done. Depending on the aesthetic is cables from the front, back diagonal into the wall.
So instead of a triangular section at the bottom, you have one up top.

You could easily have a steel fabricator bend that up for you. Unfortunately, steel prices are at an all time high right now too. For processed (bent) steel plate, you are probably going to be looking at about $2 per lb, between material and the bending.

Using that original sketch, you could have a piece of 3/8" x 14" A36 Plate x 50" long, bent into the profile you showed, it would weight about 75 lbs and would probably cost you about $150 for material and the bending. With that small tank, you could probably go down to 5/16" thick plate and save a little cash and still be fine strength wise.
