What does a balance calculator mean?.
When you take Alk and Ca readings they are what they are.
Never heard of it.

The balance should be ignored. Just because one is high or low doesn't mean the other should be. Stick to setting both independently at appropriate levels.
IMO, that means 400-550 ppm calcium and 7-11 dKH.

Those levels are perfectly fine.
Balance is not a target.
It simply means if you take seawater at 7 dKH and 420 ppm calcium, and add or subtract the ratio in calcium carbonate (20 ppm calcium and 2.8 dKH), what values can you attain.
