With heavy restrictions still in NJ and now 2' of snow boredom is kicking in and I decided to run tests on the RO/DI from my LFS for reference points, to see the accuracy of the tests, and again...boredom. Results are as expected, maybe with one exception, pH (possibly because of temp?). Not sure if it helps anyone not waste a round of tests but here are the results of the API kit (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and pH)...as well as the RedSea ammonia test at 0.

Thanks good idea.
API is not known for its sensitivity or accuracy

I'm not certain I understand the intent of the question. Are you saying because it's "zero" it's not a result, or because it's hard to discern from the photo?
My bad. I wasn't as clear as I intended. I have difficulty deciding when the test results are in between two colors.

I have the same issues, the nuances are so subtle, which is why I was hoping to baseline the results with the RO/DI for when I test my active tank. The RedSea actually looks more yellow in the side picture than from above, although the instructions state to view it from overtop. I'm going to be moving to digital displays like Hanna, once I run through these tests, for my own sanity!

I run the Hanna dKH and ULR phosphorous. It's definitely nice to get a digital reading.

Yeah, I definitely hate guessing with the color scale results. Especially something like copper, which I'm running now; cupramine, more specifically. Had I known (or had the time) I would have ordered that Hanna from the start of the therapeutic treatment.
