Cade Chaos Grimoire

Remember when I hated myself and did the itty bitty tank? @Mhamilton0911 you did that with me right?

I just found the tank unpacking!

Heck yeah I remember that. I present you with my dry shelf trophy.

I also repurposed the pump for my seaponies.

I turned down some fish I wanted last weekend for same reason. Tank leak needed gone tried to sell at retail. I told him good luck.
Yeah, but those prices are over retail. I paid $35 for my Mel and $50 for my Tomini. Damsels aren't bad prices...

I left work 3.5 hours early today to come home and relax because my neck was so tense I could feel the back of it straining just talking. Got home around 330.

I got home.
I baked 2 loaves of bread (I bought a Dutch oven while at the in-laws for bread baking & hubs bought an anova precision steam oven thingy and he insisted it would be better and easier so we had to compare the two).
I set up the new sicce controller finally.
I unpacked all the paint related craft room stuff (resin stuff will stay in the garage).
I unpacked a *ton* of tank stuff.

It's now 915 and I'm finally doing that relaxing I promised myself.

Edited to add: he was wrong. Both came out excellent. The APO was more confusing and more work to get going since I'm unfamiliar with it. Not easier.

I'm pretty sure my flame hawk was $25 - Firefish seems reasonable though lol.

Wish I could see what corals he has in there better, no pricing listed for that.

He updated the listing to state: There are too many corals to take pics and give individual prices. You want deals from an emergency breakdown, come with a bucket and way to pay.

Maybe I'll investigate tomorrow. Wonder if that clam is still around....

Today work.
Tonight bring the back porch plants inside.
Then a fire.

Tomorrow : acquire remaining plant care supplies from in-laws house, unpack all plant care supplies into outdoor storage cabinets (I have 2 boxes here and 1 there)

Maybe reach out to that guy and see what kind of lps he has available.

Ohhh I have one too we should get the band back together.

I want one but haven't pulled the trigger yet. My 3 gallon is close I guess.

I went to a small local swap back a few months ago and one of the vendors brought one full of frags. He was selling the 15 remaining frags for $2 each so he didn't have to take them back to California. I should have asked how much for the tank and frags...

So, looking more and more like we're leaning peninsula - gives us more space along the bar for the kegerator and beverage fridge. We have the hookups for a sink there as well, the plan is to store the RO system under there, so I can run the water straight into an ato that gravity feeds to the tank. Problem? I need a suitable container - so we can continue planning.

I dislike utilizing an ato machine, the beeping also makes Matt prepared to carry out homicide. Switching to gravity was much easier on our sanity and I want to keep it going that way.

I also ordered a TON of pods from @Dinkins Aquatic Gardens

I get biweekly top offs from a local place, but with the move I need a hefty reup.

My 4g lifegard was my fav tank, easily. There's still a chance I bring something tiny like that back. This little 0.3g thing was a monster though - I could never combat the salt creep on it.

The 4g:

If I get really bored and hate myself I might try to design a better/bigger sump for the super mini. I'd have to be REALLY bored for those thoughts though......

My biggest complaint was the sump. To small, and hard to re connect. If I redid that, id either make a viewing window for water level, or print it with transparent so I can see without removing the top. Plus I could make it taller, or a little wider. More room to dissipate the salt creep?

I don't know. Before coffee rambles. I'm sure I'll come to my senses soon.

Need a way to secure this nero wire so it's not obstructing my view any longer:

Got all the plants inside, they need to recoup from forced outside living during the cold. Other light needs to be mounted still.

I did. I started with Mercer of Montana's phyto kit, but you can find the same jars with the plastic lids at Uline.com. Also rigid airline tubing, silicone airline (or preferred variety), check valves, splitters, adjustment valves. For light I used a cheap clip on planted aquarium light, it was less than 20$ and I'm still using it for bbs hatching going on 2 years. But any light usually works, some wrap led strips, some use regular lightbulbs, etc.

Then next, most important step, sourcing pure starter cultures. This was my downfall every time. Eventually mine would change and eventually I got a microscope and realized all my cultures were contaminated, I even ordered fresh 'pure' starters, looked immediately under microscope and could still see initial contamination. I have not tried the Florida algea lab petri disk starter, but those were going to be my next choice when I try again.

I struggled with both phyto and pods contamination, phyto had cyano, hair algea and other unwanted contamination, and each copepod starter had multiple types, no matter how pure thier claims were on species type.

well that's disheartening :confounded-face:

Today I ordered myself some tank things. Lots of pods, and some softies/nps from aquasd flash. Seriously contemplating a clam though....
