Cade Chaos Grimoire

What a frickin stressful day.

On top of the fissues (fish issues) - we went to the vet for skeletor's foot, a different one than usual. That was a wholeass fiasco.

On the plus side, when I got back from picking him up Matt had shrimp stirfry for me for lunch & a blood orange margarita. This is why I keep him around.

Here here!!!!! Not dog related, but I lost my Sh1t twice today a work and broke down and cried in the bathroom. That blood orange margarita sounds fantastic. Cheers and I hope your day ends better than it started.

I was so angry on the way from the vet appt I was crying. I haven't been that angry in an incredibly long time. I'm sorry your day is made from the same cloth. Hopefully it finishes better as well.

As though I don't work in pet retail, or own a dog with paper skin, they felt the need to explain to me in precise detail what this vet wrap is and where I can get it and how to use it...

(Ignore the trash bag, that's all styrofoam not food waste)

This is after I had to essentially pull teeth to find out if I was safe to wrap the spot on his foot to help prevent him from licking it so it can heal. I took him in and explicitly stated that I needed a treatment plan to allow the patch of skin over the mass to heal - they apparently decided all I cared about was the mass itself and wanted that sampled and sent to cytology, which, yes - that's part of it.... but also that's an open wound that needs to heal.

The vet had the audacity to respond at the office at pickup with "that's a mass, not an open wound, the treatment is to remove it and we don't know the best way to do so until we get the results back." I responded with "I'm fully aware that's a mass, given the elevated surface; however, in the same way that a tattoo is an open wound - so is this patch of skin *on top of* the mass that hasn't sealed up in a week, and as I explicitly stated at drop off and when I made the appt, I would like a treatment plan or course of action to aid that portion in healing. It can be both a mass and an open wound at the same time - not only gaping holes qualify as open wounds."

So yeah, we're going back to driving an hour to see the vet he's been seeing prior to this move...

HOw is Skeletor ?
He could care less, we'll have results from the sample in 1-2 weeks. I already talked to his normal location and they're pulling the notes and watching for the results to come in. Same company, different location.

Gorg fell over in the back right and I don't feel like getting salty arm again today. I'll fix it tomorrow when I go in to feed the new corals.

Green sinularia is fluffing up, alveopora is slowly extending. Sun corals aren't even thinking about looking at me. Purple leather is on the top ridge to the right of the branch coral, still looking floppy. Carnation still looking floppy.

Main fish order reached Jacksonville about half an hour ago..

Other fish was LA and they were supposed to be reaching out to the Cali warehouse to find out what was going on and why my fish didn't ship last night since there were zero notes on the order at all, they insisted they'd call me back today. As of right now, no one has called back.... who knows what's going on.

Also I would like to add some more venting regarding Skeletor's vet appointment today. I was told to leave the red wrap that they used on for 2 hours to allow the blood to clot up since it really started bleeding when they took a sample to send off. I assumed that they were smart enough to use non-stick gauze, they were not. So naturally as soon as I took off the wrap and carefully stripped the gauze off, all clotting was gone and it started bleeding fresh. :upside-down-face:

We need a smacking my head smiley. I'm sorry to hear about the asshats you had to deal with today. Its hard finding a good vet, let alone a good vet for a GH. Bud had one but then she got pregnant and left the practice. No one else ever "got" him like she did. God i miss that dog and all his drama.

Surprise (not really) got an email from LA just now apologizing for the shipping delay (24 hours after it should have shipped), stating that once 75% of my order is available to ship - they will ship it. My order was one single fish, which is still listed as available to order on their website right now.

I will not murder an entire online retailer.
I can not murder an entire online retailer.

Well let’s hope they decide to send the entire fish and not just 75% of it.

Who knows. Maybe only 25% of the fish felt up for travel and they’re going it time…

I’m also so sorry to hear about the vets stupidity with Skeletor. Sweet boy.

How dare I sit slightly out of reach.

Tank is looking good this morning, so far.

About to go feed everyone.

Fish are out for delivery, hopefully they make it before I have to leave for work.

I guess 75% of it feels up to travel now - just got shipping confirmation for delivery tomorrow (while I'm at work )

Hopefully it’ll be ok. I think tomorrow here the weather is going to be nice so I think you’re hopefully should be too.

Cbb perking up a bit as we acclimate. Pulled about 75% of the shipping water and started dripping. Water was clear, but I didn't test ammonia specifically.... just tested enough to know there's a bigger variance in salinity than I feel comfortable with without drip acclimating.

Quick snapshots in bags while I pulled most the bad water but before switching containers to drip:
