That guy is a freeloader. I got him hoping he'd live on the left side of the tank and keep everything clean over there & he moved in with the engineer Goby and does zero work.

Caught the urchin running over the reverse Superman whatever the heck monti I got as a freebie from battlecorals once upon a time and saw a side of it I've never seen before. So green at random

Also, speaking of so green.

After months of silence, my tank suddenly has the loudest overflow/return in the world and I'm going to throw something. I cannot get it to level back out and shut up tonight

I have the same issue. Think my pump needs cleaned...

Oi.

The reefer in the room started sucking air at 2am this morning.

I keep getting alternation between the vacuum vortex water sound or gurgling.

Maybe I'll clean my pump tomorrow and see if that's it.

I feel better that it's not just my tank acting loud.

Husband says atmospheric pressure change.

I say ghosts.

Any chance the weep hole on a pipe is clogged?

No clue, I closed it up fully, then opened it up fully, then closed it back down to normal and it seems to be quieting down now. Maybe?

Between this & my left eyelid being swollen and purple & my vision out of that eye so hazy I can barely see out of it - I might decide 1051 is the best time to call it a night and crash.

My luck I'll be able to hear the tank from the bedroom & it'll keep me awake

Good news is: whatever was going on the full close then wide open trick solved it

Bad news is: pretty sure the eye is dry eye, and also that the drops i was using were making it worse. Trying new drops, hopefully I won't need rx stuff

That's good news on the tank sounds . Did you close then reopen the valve, or the air weep hole? I can't remember specifically what sort of plumbing you run.

Idk if I have a weep hole or where that is but I messed with the valve

That's a gate valve. You may have had a piece of algea or something caught in it.

You'll probably need to retune the gate now to get the correct level in your overflow and keep it the quietest, but luckily no surging.

Yeah I'm assuming there was something caught in it. It's quiet now and has been since I messed with it last night that way. These monsters in my tank like to let loose giant chunks of nori, and occasionally it makes its way into the overflow.
