Cade Chaos Grimoire

Still didn't move the light bracket. I go back to work tomorrow. Oops. Guess I better get my brain together today.

Told hubby I'm going to LFS today to look for something. He didn't question it.

One of the things, aside from a qt, that I want to set up at the new house is a shallow frag tank so I can split things for all you jerks and send out bbs. The big tank is not easy to do that with.

Trying to figure out a good size.... *Not huge*

Throw your ideas at me though.

low boy tank is not massive, easy to drill and is a great depth for frags and such.

I was hoping I could find something pretty similar to that, but not as much back to front depth. Might not be too bad though. Won't have a full idea until I get into the house on exactly where to put it.

Custom is always and option also. I built a 24x36 a while back and it was super easy. Especially using 1/2" glass and only being 8" tall. Think it cost me 150 bucks or so for silicone and precut glass.

Then there is the tub aspect. You could do a 40 gallon tub from TSC, cut it down to the height you want and rock that. Or look into hydroponics trays. They do have 10"-12" deep ones of all sizes. These 2 options are easy to setup and drill.

No luck finding a CBB today. He does have some that are supposed to be coming in this week so he said check back in 2 weeks once they finish quarantine treatment.

Got to watch a reef delete in action which was pretty cool. That just arrived to their shop today so this is the first he's tested it.

Talked to him about China wrasse, he said he will not order them if he can help it. Same story the other shop gave me: they do not ship well, and do not live long once they do ship. He said you're better off finding one in an existing tank that someone is trying to break down. Most of them don't make it past a year and you're just throwing your money away.

So....

This happened.

Apparently my new male has abandoned his female for my old female. The old male & female moved in with them. The 3 are doing well....

New female is hanging out by herself, eating fine, no aggression from the others, etc... Curious to see if she switches back to male and joins them? Is that even possible or is it a one way road? Anyone well versed on how long that transition would take? @fishguy242 ??

Edit: further research says that once they switch to female they will not transition back to male. So now I have to decide whether I want to pull her or let her continue in here. There's not any aggression from the other female so far, I'm inclined to let her remain as long as she continues to do well. Any input though?

Dang got bumped. Sorry to hear about not being able to get a China wrasse locally. They are difficult shippers but I disagree with your LFS saying they don’t live long. Once you get them eating they’re as hardy as other wrasses. Don’t give up the hunt for one!

I think that I'll eventually go back to the hunt, I don't think I'll be able to stay away for long lol I love them too much. I'll just have to buy online instead of locally.

Seems that most I see pictures of, under 4", neither one shows strong male colors. Would I need to make sure to have one of two be male, or would two females be ok until one may transition to male?
Chances are you’ll only be able to obtain females since the smaller ones survive export better. You can keep females together they’re slow growers so it could take a couple of years before one transitions.

hi, nope once clown is female ,never going back.
may work out with no problems,
i keep many different clowns in same tank ,never a prob, just end up mismatched pairs.

Cool walk through of my favorite local coral shop if you've got about 30 min to watch.

Stick tank is beautiful in person.

LPS/wrasse tank is one of my favs. They won't sell me that china though  they said it took forever to get one healthy. They were the first shop I talked to about it. I still like to go in and watch him and maybe I'll be able to convince them eventually....

Nem tank should attract some interest from some of you guys. Last time I was in there were less btas and more carpets.

I haven't gotten a chance to see the predator tank yet, it's only a few weeks old.

I actually learned in this that they medicate their fish as well, I had no idea.

I know, it was Pierre the owner I tried to con into it shortly after they received it. It was a shipment of 4 and only that one survived delivery. About 3 months ago. Maybe he'd cave now hmm
