CADE S2 2100 Build

Very odd about the fire fish and sad. Did you figure out how it got out?

I am not the best at designing the plumbing. And since I live in Casper Wyoming the help here is limited. Which is why I have been looking at the CADE. This will be my last tank. I am hoping to get it right. No leaks. I love the ATO. How has the ATO been working for you? Thanks for all info.

Shelley
So far the ATO has been great. I added an optical sensor for my Apex. I would strongly recommend replacing all of the plastic band clamps it comes with - they are trash.

Took some work, but have all our fish moved into the CADE, with the exception of the trigger who needs to find a new home.

Also moved over a few zoas, monti, GSP and my hammer that unfortunately broke trying to corral fish in my WB. All looking happy so far!

All the numbers are looking good, with the only outsider being Mg a tad low.

Also back to radio silence from AB and still no replacement door. :(

I accidentally broke my door on my cade 1500. It took them quite awhile to send me my replacement door as well. I think they may come from a separate location. Tank looks great btw.

They've told me twice now "maybe 4 weeks" and it's been since February..so, I'm almost to the point of saying if I get one this year it's a win.

Been a bit since I posted, but have been continuing to consolidate and populate:

Have move most of the corals from my WB 90.3 into the CADE, and all fish from both of my other systems over the last 6 weeks staggering to no overload the bioload.

This past weekend I got some new fish!
I added (fingers crossed) a six line, melanarus and marble wrasses into the DT.

I set up and added a Scopus, powder brown and powder blue tangs to a 40G QT. One of the LFS had a sale on large powders (35 and 69 respectively) so I just couldn't resist.

Also made a deal with another local reefer and traded a few corals for a ReefBot V1. Will get that up and running soon and see how that goes!

Just read through this whole thread, looking great and would love an update. I’ll be setting up the same tank soon but will have the sump in my basement.

How has the dual return been holding up?

Phew! A year and a half (almost) sure has gone quick!

Overall the tank is holding up well. Like anything, there's been some issues and weeks.

Most of the livestock is doing well. Lost a few fish, mostly I think from harassment and then hiding. Corals are all doing well - zoas have completely taken over the ledge as I wanted, monti has cupped and is a 10-12" wide 5" tall beast. Added a few acros and a few other misc LPS that all generally are doing well.

I'm currently battling back a gha outbreak, despite having near zero Phos and Nitrate levels. I went to two part auto DOSing, and it seems my AWC (5% weekly/ 2gal/day) did not keep up with my mag level. Pumped that back up to around 1500 ppm and combined with lots of manual removal and cleaning it's getting better.

I picked up a reefbot (V1) on a trade about a year ago. I really like it's flexibility in testing. I do a weekly Nitrate, Phos and calc reading, and alk every other day. I was doing red Sea all originally, then recently switched to API due to cost and titrant availability... Doesn't seem too accurate though. It consistently gives a 10.0 dKH reading, vs Hannah reading of 7.8. other tests seem on the mark.

As for the tank itself....
I'm thoroughly disappointed with the glass quality. I use a flipper mag cleaner and despite the 3/4" glass, it has still managed to result in numerous large scratches.

Three of the four sock holders have come out from their epoxy in the sump. They press back down and hold water, but every change they pop out and have to be finagled back in place.
If your sump is dry, I'd recommend adding an extra bead around these to help reinforce.

All the plumbing put in is holding up well. I really like the dual return. It's worked out exactly as I envisioned. One issue is the Neptune flow meter - it's stopped reading and likely needs to at a minimum cleaned, if not just removed. Was a good intention, just not really worked out consistently.

I can get some photos up in a bit when the lights come on.

Let me know if you have any questions with your set up. Good luck!
