Hi, I have a 150-gallon full system and don't know whether or not I should stick to two-part dosing or get a calcium reactor. does anybody have any thoughts? BTW it will be a medium-heavy stocked SPS tank

It mainly depends on the size of the tank and how much you dose as to whether is cost effective or not. I don't have one personally, but have looked into one and found that for my 120 gal sps tank it wasn't worth it. My next tank might be different as it will be a 225 gal tank.

Yeah, I dose 200ml per day of alk and cal. I have looked into getting one a lot and I probably would if I had $2k laying around. I feel really confident in dosing, I have read so much about the carx effluent plugging up.

Dosed 2 part for 6 months on my 120. Been running carx, tunze 3171, for 6 weeks. Very stable alk. 8.1-8.3 consistently. Easy to set up but not inexspensive.
I would not go bak to 2 part. Going to dose 2 part in my 45 frag tank for awhile then switch to carx.
I run no controller or ph probe. Check out jda for a complete explanation on how easy it is to set one up. Tanks 7 months old.
Cost is about 1k to setup.

A tank your size with med load sps, you're better off running a ca reactor for cost and efficiency. The reactor will be more stable and less expense in that size.

I’ve used dosing for 4 years on my Red Sea S650 and my new system has the Deltec Twin Tech 1500 calcium reactor.

Yes it’s expensive but it’s a delight to use and is very effective and once you understand how it works, the principal is simple.

Certainly for larger systems its more cost effective, but for smaller systems it will take several years to get the financial benefits, but then again it’s not necessarily just about money
