Calcium acetate in top-off water?

Hello,

I'm thinking of maintaining calcium and alk levels via calcium acetate in my upcoming 10gal nano build. Are there any downsides to adding the calcium acetate to the top-off RO/DI water (vs. dosing directly in the tank), and delivering via ATO?

That might be a problem because bacteria will grow in it, consuming the acetate.
