I was wondering if anyone made their own mixtures like in the link I posted and if you do, is it efficient? Thanks for the input. See the link.

It's been a number of years, but I've used it successfully. Ultimately, I just started to buy the chem's from BRS.

There are many people who use it and are happy, and now there are companies that sell the ingredients (such as BRS).

I've really not heard of many (any?) who used it and said they switched to a commercial two part and then noticed an improvement in the state of the tank.

That said, DIY chemicals may change in purity over time and getting decent material is the key.
