Calcium and alkalinity in top off?

Can I mix CA and KH supplements in my top off reservoir at the same time? I have a 15 gal reservoir, probably adds close to 2 gallons per day.

They will combine and precipitate as calcium carbonate.

One or the other, but not both.

You can use kalk in your ato if you just looking to use that as a dosing tool

Thanks all for the help. Kh has been bouncing around, and then ca starts moving too. I'm not courageous enough to dose kalk through top off, float switch is not 100 percent reliable

On a percentage basis, alkalinity depletes a lot faster than calcium, so that might be the one to put in an ATO if you went that route.

But if he is worried about his ato getting stuck and over dosing. Wouldn’t an overdose of alk be worse than kalk

Do you mean calcium, or kalkwasser?

I think limewater/kalkwasser could be worse than alkalinity supplement due to the pH spike, but neither is desirable.

Yes I meant kalkwasser. Just too lazy to type. I would just spend the money and get dosing pumps
