So I have not figured out how to get the alkalinity and calcium to balance. I use reef crystals and for whatever reason the calcium is right on, while the alkalinity is always low. I've been using C-Balance to get things close to right but haven't done a good job keeping things balanced.

I just get a 3 way doser to help things stay exactly where they should be but I could use some help. C-balance says I need to add the two parts in equal parts which is fine but if I add equal parts it will raise the calcium higher than it needs to be. Like I said, the calcium is right at 450 pretty much no matter what I do. And the alkalinity quickly drops to 2.0 meq.

So I'm assuming I need to get the alkalinity up by itself without increasing the calcium. Should I increase it one day with only using the alkalinity part of C-balance, and then dose daily at night to keep the levels where they are? Any other recommendations of getting the alk up? Is it the salt mix that doesn't naturally give the alk I need? I've heard Red Sea Pro salt is naturally better at balancing calcium and alk. Any help is appreciated.

Yes you can bring up the alkalinity by itself. Once you get both where you want them then you need to figure out your daily consumption then you can adjust dosing pump to deliver the dosage every day to maintain levels. If you go to brs and look at the reef calculator it will help you determine how much is needed to bring levels up.
