I'm using BRS 2-part and having a lot of white strings and dots of hard calcium build in in the sump. Would another 2-part be better? I'm thinking of switching to Bionic.

What are your parameters.
How do you know its ca build up?
When you dose alk does it dissipate quick or precipitate?
Picture would help

I’ve had them for years. I think it’s calcium build up. I’m not even sure what it is. It’s all over my sump, on skimmer, return, drain, glass. I just spent hours cleaned up my sump and prefer not to do it again.

Maybe am wrong but This look organic build up not ca build up to me.
Ca build up is not that luch related to which additive you using, rather how much you using it..that's why I asked you what's your paramaters..
What's your alk ca mag

Spirobid worms, very common in reef tanks. Peppermint shrimp will keep in check

I'm not sure. These seem like dots. I have a lot of the crunchy strings too. They look like white curly hair coming straight out the glass.

Red Sea Reefer 350. Not the photo. That's the old tank.

Cal 500
Alk 9.2
Mag 1500
Nitrate 10
Po4 0.02

Ca is too high why?
Mag is high as well, you might face precipitation...
Again it's not about tha additive brand it's about the ammount you dosing. You meed to reduce your dosing..
This is assuming your results are accurate

Actually, with Alk at 9.2, Ca is ok, if you have SPS or high Ca usage corals.

Hmm. Never heared of 500 range ca and 1500 range mag being ok.
I ran in the past elevated parameters where my alk was 11 and still ca was 450.
But...diffrent approaches

The calcium and magnesium are not causing precipitation. The pictures also do not look like abiotic precipitation, but if you want to reduce the potential for it, use a two part made with baking soda to lower pH a bit.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
