I read on here that calcium carbonate oowder could be used safely in a reef aquarium to bring down particles in the water column. Anyone have experience with this? Dosing? Thanks

My daughter just read out loud about eggshells and I heard calcium carbonate and thought hmm searched here and found this thread. Any update on this thread?

From the standpoint of safety to the tank and its inhabitants, it should be fine since calcium carbonate has very little solubility in seawater with a pH >7.8. And, I believe that Korallen Zucht makes such a product called "coral snow".

My only question about using something like this on a regular basis as a flocculation agent is what effect the microparticles might have on pumps.

Yup, I've done this. A little of the stuff goes a long way!

I dosed this every other day for a full month to try and get rid of vermited snails with no luck. Didn't seem to hurt anything though.

Hey, was curious did you ever find a way to kill and get rid of the vermitid snails? Any advice?
