I see that BRS has been Zero stock of their calcium chloride brand for a while and was wondering what others use that is similar to the BRS brand. Will any food grade calcium chloride work? Other good brands? Is there a shortage?

There's a shortage of a lot of things at the moment.

Last week when I looked BRS was out of stock on a lot of sizes of their pharma grade additives like kalk, sodium bicarb and soda ash. I ended up buying a couple 4 lb boxes of Arm and Hammer and made my own soda ash.

Did you find any places to get bulk Calcium Chloride?

lowes - $20 for 50lb

Do you know which brand? I've used Preston driveway heat in the past, but its been a while. I just want to buy one that's been tested. Thanks.

yes, that's what I ordered. I did not have it ICP tested

I suggest getting it or something similar while you still can

This is what I'm using. $20 for a near lifetime supply.

They have the calcium single pouches in stock now, I ordered some last night.

It would be interesting to see some testing done on these various de-icers. I suspect we are paying 10-20x for someone to repackage this stuff into a nice container.
