Calcium dilema

How big is your tank? 50% is a lot to just correct you all IMO. And are you buying your water? Do you have any livestock in the tank? I would do several smaller changes like 10 gallons at a time. Again your looking for stability, not huge swing up or down in the levels.

I have a 55 gallon glass. I have about 40 lbs of dry San Marco rock. I have a 20 gallon acrylic sump. 2 bags of live sand.
Livestock
1 maroon clown
1 coral beauty
1 coral banded shrimp
1 striped goby
2 yellow damsels
1 kole Tang
9 Mexican turbo Snails
5 hermit crabs

Corals
1 candy cane
1 zoantid
2 acans
1 mushroom
1 acropora

Okay, so that changes things. I would not do a huge water change. I would suggest making sure either your test kit is accurate or your testing methods a correct. Maybe have your lfs test your water for you. I would thing with a dkh of 14 some of those corals would be a little ******. What kind of test kit are you using again? A lot of folks will have two different brands so that they can compare the results.

I have an api testing kit, plus a salifert calcium kit. My friend has a Hannah instruments calcium meter also he tested it and i took my water to my lfs and it tested almost the same. They were off by 1 on alkalinity and spot on calcium. But i will start today doing 5 gallon changes and see how it goes.

The only coral that seems affected by this is my candy cane and i moved it to by nano cube that i have in the bedroom and it's looking better already
