For the past couple weeks my acros have been turning dark, dull, and purple and then receding at the base. Water changes didn't seem to do anything so I started cleaning things one by one.

Today, I noticed my calcium dosing container looked slightly pink. When I opened it there was a strong smell of super glue. The other two-part containers have no odor. While cleaning it out, there was a pink crust on the bottom and white gunk. Who knows how long it's been like that, maybe over a month. What happened and how do I prevent it from occurring again?

I don't know if this was the cause of my receding acros, but I'm sure it wasn't helping.

Edit: Two-part recipe is Randy's with ESV Calcium Chloride

I would clean out/replace the Calcium container.
Could be an impropper mix, bad batch or something else. Whatever is is, faster and cheaper to start fresh with a clean container
