Calcium formate solubility.

I got AR calcium formate @99% purity and try to get a solution by adding 140 grams of calcium formate to 1 liter of water. I got a lot of white precipitate. The reason I am doing this is trying to compare this to carbo calcium from tropic marine. Anyone using carbo calcium facing the similar problem? I think the white precipitates are calcium carbonate. Anyone try to use calcium formate in your reef tank before apart from carbocalcium?
