I have one birds nest, and one montipora and I think that's it for sps. And ok I'll look into it. How much do they cost?

The hanna checker for calcium is difficult to get dialed in. Many ppl complain that they cannot get consistent readings with it. The other ones (alk/phosphate) are great tho.

340-360 is typical calcium level for IO salt. Your test appears to be in line. I'll also add, 1/2 cup of calcium is a lot in a 14 gallon tank and you may have caused calcium precipitation which is why you got a lower reading after dosing.

I suggest you read the diy two part stickie here for some inexpensive calcium/alk/mag suppliments.

If you follow that method you should not have these problems.
