Hey guys. So I finally have about 10 coral frags and I'm thinking about doing now to get some nice growth and health. So I ordered Kent liquid calcium. I am able to just dose calcium without dosing mag and alk right ? I want to start out slow and dose one thing at a time since in new at it. And if it's ok to just start dosing calcium how do I know how much to dose. Thanks for ur answers!!

You want to dose both alk and calc while maintaining mag levels.....it's a troika, and all three are needed. And here's the great news about alk.....you can make your own from regular old baking soda. Take 2 1/4 cups of baking soda and spread on a cookie sheet. Bake in an oven at 350 for 60 minutes. Let cool and add to a gallon jug and fill with RO/DI water. This is Randy Holmes Farley's recipe that can be found HERE. One note, Randy says 300, but I've found 350 makes sure you get complete conversion.

Also note that BRS sells all ingredients to make Randy's recipes. They also sell the baked baking soda (soda ash) were you'd only need two cups to a gallon of RO/DI.
