So I have a system that has been up for a couple years now. DT 250 total water is 375 with two frag tanks and sump. I have a many SPS dominant tank (about 100 or so sticks and colonies some very large) I run a Georeef calcium reactor and a BRS doser for 2 part mag. I also have 6 ever grow D120 led panels over the DT. My current levels are:

Ca 490
Alk 9
Mg 1250
Phos 0
Nitrate 0
Ph 8.2
Salinity 1.025

I am dosing 5o ml mg per day
And reactor maintains alk at be above given numbers

Question is why does my CA always run this high? Even if I lower CO2 input into reactor my alk drops but CA almost always stays tbe same. I have also been having a difficult time raising mag. I'm sure this all goes hand in hand but any though are appreciated

Water change.
Before u do the water change dose the water to higher levels.
Then do a water change. After a few hours check ur water see if there at the levels u want.
Once the're there dose to maintain.

Or dose mag HARD to make it jump and then adjust after that point.

I guess bigger question is is CA way outta line or how do I lower that if needed

Kent salt runs high in calcium.

From marine depot website

Specific Gravity: 1.024 - 1.026
pH: 8.2 to 8.3
Calcium: 550 to 575 ppm
Magnesium: 1,350 to 1,450 ppm

Is there a neg effect of the high ca?

It drives down your alkalinity which is very important to keep in range an stable.

Picture a see-saw. Calcium on one side and alk on the other. Keeping the seesaw flat is the best option.

Makes sense, that's why I dRive my reactor so hard trying to keep up. Thanks for the help. How does it affect MG?

Unlikely to be a problem at that level, but I would switch to a salt that matches your target numbers closely - there's no sense working against yourself like this. :)

Reef Crystals may be a better fit..or even Tropic Marin or Instant Ocean.

sounds to me like your tank is doing just fine.

I wouldn't worry about this or that parameter not being "perfect".
