Hoping Randy can chime in here.
Sommy 150 SPS dominated tank has been up for about 1.5 years. I have about 40-50 mature colonies and lots of frags. As of about the last month I discovered my CA rose to above 600. I got lazy on testing and noticed the following. Mind you I use a GHL doser with Fritz CA, ALK and MAG solutions. I was dosing 170 ml of CA a day and ALK and maintain steady numbers for over 6 months
Tested
CA 600+ Salifert
ALK 7.15. Hanna
MG 1200 Salifert
No3 2-5. Salifert
Po4 .08. Hanna ULR
Salinity 1.025 digital Milwaukee
Test kits are new and tested again other kits
What I’ve done since
Turned off ca dosing head and slowly raised MAG to 1400. Ca has bearing came down to 500 and alk consumption is steady at 168 ml per day and maintaining dkh oh 8.4-8.5. Some colors are definitely off on corals. My question is......why would CA rise so high and now appears corals are barely using any CA but alk consumption remains steady with Mag at current levels.
Any insight or help is appreciated
