Calcium OD. My 1st big mistake

I'm 3 days after a WC and wanted to boost my alk and calcium just a tad. I have a 15IM reef with sand. I dosed 10ml of Bionic Alk and instead of using 10ml of Calcium Bionic I used 5 ml of purple up. 5x too much. My alk was at 8.1 and Calcium 415 but dropping daily before dosing. In a couple of hrs I'll see where I'm at. How concerned should I be and should I just do another water change now.

Purple Up is snake oil that doesn’t do anything. You’ll be fine

If you're using esv bionic you want to dose equal parts of each, not use each individually to reach x number for alk or ca. It's a balanced additive and thus maintains ionic balance in your saltwater. That said probably don't have to do anything at all right now. Fwiw I use esv and dose by alk consumption number; so whatever I dose for part 1 I hit it with the same amount of part 2. Good luck!

That's what I usually do. But I know that purple up jumps my calcium quite a bit and I'm starting to get Coraline and wasted 25bucks on it. So I used it. I mistakenly used way too much. After my Boys destroy NY I'm gonna test it. If it's even on the chart. Might blow my hannah up.

There’s no concern. Just some extra calcium carbonate settling out. It won’t dissolve.

After all that I tested again 2x. 1st was 427 and 2nd was 425. The 1st time I used purple up my Calcium went to 520. With 5x less. Maybe I didn't shake it enough. But 425-450 was my target anyway. I'll leave it over night and mid morning I'll test everything and see where my alk and magnesium are at as well. Got my **** in a wringer over nothing. Thanks for helping guys.

Usually excess precipitates out - and is harmless - I would check your numbers.

Purple up cannot raise dissolved calcium.

If you test while there are any particulates still in the water, you will get a false high reading.

Nothing is the problem as it turns out. I was at 415 calcium and added 5x too much Purple Up and expected it to shoot way up but fortunately it just went to 450. Where I wanted it.

So I finally wised up and improved my lighting. Basically went from 50 to 100 watts. That's all it took for everything to start growing in my 24g AIO cube. That means coralline is really taking off, zoas are getting much bigger, my montipora cap shows lots of new growth. And now I'm noticing...
