Hello all I have a 220 reef and I love my clams. I'm thinking of adding a calcium reactor does anyone have any advice? Pros and cons, price, and ease of use ? Thanks for the help.

They make keeping your alk and ca at constant levels a breeze. But beware, if it malfunctions and overdoes it, you can lose the entire tank if you don't keep any eye on it. I have a Deltec PF601 sitting around collecting dust, if you're interested. It's good for up to 600g lightly stocked, or 250ish heavily stocked.
New ones range anywhere from around 200 to over a grand, depending on brand/size.

How is that blue squamosa doing ? I lost mine and 7 other clams in 2 days after a mail order clam came in and died 2 days after putting in the tank.

SSSOOOO....

Being a LAZY REEFER and one who travels for work regularly, the CaRx is a necessity for me. when used with a controller and solenoid valves, they are very self sustaining and relatively in-expensive to operate. Initial cost is high but to buy the gas every 6 months for me it is $15. The Media will last you a good while as well.

when first setting up, you will need to monitor it closely and make very small adjustments in either the internal PH or the flow rate. i prefer a good flow just above a drip and then will adjust my PH. it is now at ~6.8. if I need more, I can flow more water thru it, or decrease the PH which melts the media faster.
