My DKH right now is between 7-8 and I have to dose. I read the *** needs to be a minimum of 30-40 DKH, is this right?

I am confused here? My mag is 2K, Cal is over 500. I am suspecting my Goni is sucking the hell out of it, and its constantly growing new shoots.

What I don't understand is why would my *** needs to be that high just to maintain a certain level? I just want it to be at least 9-10 range.

The effluent coming out of the reactor is usually high as the media dissolves but you then need to adjust the rate into the tank according to what’s needed and it sounds like you maybe need to turn the out flow down

Its just a matter of adjusting it to the tank needs.

Ive never actually measured the output dKH on my Deltec Twin Tech, I just turned up the flow over a week or so until everything was stable.

The effluent in a GOOD reactor will be 30-40. You can't maintain an Alk of 9 if you keep adding drops that are 9 but that is diluted throughout all the water in your system.

But if you are running a calcium rx - a Goni is not going to be consuming that much alk. It's an LPS, not an SPS. It puts it's energy into growing body more than skeleton.

You should look at how your Calc Rx is functioning - it sounds like it's not running as productively as it should.

That made perfect sense, thank you. I also have a small clam, about 2 inches. I lose about 2 DKH a day. I am currently running the full stream method, which I started yesterday after this post.

I started the steady stream last night, effluent from the Calrx is 10.5 and DT is 10.5, I am happy with the outcome.

Wish I knew about this longtime ago, fiddling with droplets are a complete nightmare and streaming seems to be a whole lot safer too.
