When you live close to the beach and you can find media for your calcium reactor is so cool!! Cleaned with clorox, Prime to remove clorox and sun for a week. Lets see tomorrow how is the KH of the efluent!

It looks just like Reborn.

Interesting, I live about 20 min from Clearwater beach, haven't had a reef setup in Florida yet, never occurred to me that I could possibly just go collect my own calcium reactor media! lol

Great idea! I think I might have to take some better rinsing protocols considering pollution/oil/ sunscreen etc etc found on Florida beaches. Lol

Id worry about contaminants...especially pesticides...

Taking some and soaking it in RO, maybe even RO and white vinegar dilution over night then sending a sample of that to get tested might be wise.

Nice! That is essentially what reborn is ..... dead coral skeletons that have been broken up and rubbed smooth by mechanical wave action.

Any company that sells a similar product collects it in the same way. I've used whole coral rock found in my backyard and construction sites as base rock. I have a huge piece in my storage that sat in my front yard for 25 years. I always wanted to put it in a tank so I took it when I moved...lol.
