Calcium Reactor Media

My understanding is that triton media is a lot cleaner/more pure than other stuff. I’m sure if someone adds roger to this thread he can provide Tunze media. Knowing tunze, I imagine it’s really good stuff

My tank ph is dropping down to 7.6 at night because of Arm. Does anyone have a reference of what media melts at what PH?

My reactor holds .4 gallons or 1.85 liters and is kind of small. That being said 3/4's of the bucket is left. I think you would have enough.

One bucket should be here on the 9th, I think it will fill her up too.

Banking on the lime base to help with ph rebound.

We'll see how it plays out. I should have about one more year of Reborn, but want to find another option.

I just did. Started dosing kalk through my apex dos. Started off at a half of tbs per gallon. Hopefully this will allow me to turn down the reactor but not sure if the dose I am using will be sufficient with a positive effect on tank ph.

I just did this experiment, ran a kalk reactor at a constant rate and turned down the calcium reactor, to my surprise, it actually didnt impact my pH positively almost at all. I hope that you have better results than I!

My next reactor is a saturation unit from Aquarium Engineering, so I will be trying the triton media meant for the lower pH. Thanks for carrying that @Bulk Reef Supply

If your carx is tuned correctly the ph in your tank wont vary.
This is why I do not use a ph probe or controller.
Works well for me even with the manmade media.

Cal reactor is tuned in correctly. Alk/cal are stable.

The only way your ph is that low is from co2. It is either comming from your reactor or the inhabitants of your house.
You can have stable alk and still have excess co2 comming out of your reactor.
Are you using a ph controller in your carx?

Not to control the reactor just as a fall safe. I use an electronic carbon Doser set at 2 seconds per bubbles and and use a versa dosing pump to push out 90ml per minute. Opening windows doesnt move the PH that much. Normally I leave it but I had two instances where the PH dropped to 7.55 at night and the impact on the tank was noticeable. Its definitly reactor related.

My 120 runs 7.9-8.1 day to night.
I run a 2 stage regulator at 50 bpm. Effuent is 30-35 ml pm. Alk 8-8.2.
Every carx system is different so adjust accordingly.
Anyway thats how I would attack it.
Less co2 and a slower effluent should help and keep alk stable.

Are you running an undersized carx.
Just a thought.
You should be able to tune a properly sized carx to keep up with 4 dkh a day.

I use a MRC dual stage. It can certainly keep up at the expense of lowering the PH tank.
