New reefer here, so please forgive me if I'm being silly or asking something obvious. I am wondering how much calc reactors dose (as a range). I'm starting to track my Calcium consumption per day and it is much higher than I expected for a tank with just frags.

I have 13 frags, 4 softies, 6 lps, 3 sps and an S-500 which is 135 gal. I had naively expected that I wouldn't need to dose regularly for a few months. They seem to be using 3-5ppm per 135 gal per day. I'm sure some effect could be the coralline algae that is spotting everywhere as well.

I also bought a Korallin 3002 calc reactor but I haven't turned it on yet. I'm wondering when I should work on setting it up in lieu of dosing.

What kind of output do you have from your Calc reactor ppm/gal•day?

You use a CaRx to maintain Alk and Ca levels, not to “dose” per se. You use traditional 2 part additives to reach your target Alk and Ca levels and then dial in your CO2 regulator’s bubble rate, the CaRx’s internal pH and your effluent flow rate in order to maintain your target levels.
