Hey all - i have a Vertex calcium reactor and the pump died. I reached out to Vertex directly (waiting to hear back), but wanted to talk to you about two things -

1. This reactor comes with a Sicci pump which BRS doesnt sell, anyone have any luck finding them somewhere online to purchase?

2. With being busy and focusing on life and things, it's possible this pump died months ago and i obviously just picked up on it. I just happened to be cleaning the area around the reactor and noticed it wasn't making any noise, low and behold, zero functionality. I have had a Kamoer pump using the push method and my parameters (alk, cal, mag) are where they should be, and have been for months. What issues do i face being that the pump on the reactor wasn't running for a period of time? Has anyone run into this at one point?

Thank you,
Artie

Hey Artie... sorry to hear your pump is dead but happy to hear you now know about it!

Sicce pumps are readily available at many places online. As a matter of fact, BRS does carry them. Amazon too and any number of saltwater/fish places. I'm including a link to a Sicce Syncra 3.0 at BRS for you. They carry a number of different models.

Good luck!

You can buy sicce pumps at other websites. Just match the model number.

Don't expect any kind of reply from Vertex.
Thanks, Yes i know they sell Sicci pumps in general - i think though this type of Sicci pump is designed differently - i was reading BRS reviews for this calcium reactor and a few people mentioned their pump failed and BRS does not sell this type. I will give BRS a call shortly to confirm.

Thank you! I have read it's a pump that is different then what BRS sells, but have yet to confirm with them.

Ahhhh... I did not understand that from your original post. Thanks for the clarification.

If I were you, and you should be very happy that I'm not :p , I would contact Sicce directly. Below is a link to their contact form. They also have a FB page which you can post to or send them a PM.

Good luck!

I have the same reactor and pump.
Yes the pump differs as it has a rim in which to screw and lock the plumbing onto, but I believe it is the screw/lock mechanism that makes it differ. I wonder of it is removeable to allow fit to a standard sicce pump as it appears the regular cover is off and looks like same pump?
If you hear the motor hum, may be the impeller which is easy enough.
Hear is stock #
Sicce Syncra 1.5 Motor Block . . . . EAN # 4251058416909

Wow thanks for the specs! Unfortunately no humming... but happy for the response!

I’d be shocked if sicce had created an unique pump just for vertex. Looks like a standard model with a vertex made white ring.

How unfortunate ....

Well good news is I reached out to sicce and vertex, bad news is I'm still waiting...
Anything new? I know vertex went out of business but what about replacement from since?

My vertex CaRX is making noise from the pump and I'm looking.....

Nope, but BRS had one vertex reactor which they opened up and sent me the pump. Great company. Other then that, I bought a backup reefocto skimmer. Sucks about vertex, quality stuff otherwise.

I guess when mine dies I'll be modifying it!

I tried to take off all my sicce pump i have had and it seem similar to the one we get for reactor...so i suppose to be sicce 1.5, i think we can buy it and take off the cap...then we can modified to hook it to the reactor.
