I have a geo 612 calcium reactor with a bubble magus 2nd chamber on my 280 gallon setup. I had this reactor on my 29 gallon reef for a year and didnt have any issue maintaining my alk and Ca. Now that I have moved it over to the big setup, it is struggling to keep up. My effluent is very fast coming out.. Almost a stream. I am running the ph at 6.6 controlled by my apex. The alk on the output is only 12 Dkh. Should I drop my pH set point a bit? Also, with a calcium reactor, will the alk change as the media is depleted over time? Is there a need to retune after topping it off? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes drop a bit more. I keep mine at 25 dkh but be careful so u don't turn the media into mud. Do it slowly and check the dkh. Every media is different and sometimes even if you use the same brand from time to time

I think your problem lies with the reactor itself. The 612 is rated for a 200 gallon system so your current system is demanding more than your reactor can maintain.
