Calcium Reactor Question?

Will running a Calcium reactor increase your salinity? Have a friend that swears he's mixing the correct amount of salt per 5 gallons as instructed and his salinity keeps creeping up and up. The Calcium reactor is the on the thing I can think of.
 
There is no way the reactor can just "create" salt out of no where. Salinity is a measure of how much salt is in the water so the only way that is going to increase is if you add more salt or let excess water evaporate.

How is he measuring salinity? You say he is "mixing the correct amount," but is he actually measuring it with the same device as his overall system?

Maybe he's topping off evaporated water with saltwater?
 
That's kinda what i figured, I knew that using 2 part over time would slowly raise your salinity if not careful. But i am not too familiar with the Cal Reactors.
