Hello All,

Due to long work hours and busy schedule I’m not able to follow my manual dosing schedule which is affecting the tank. I usually dose 2 part, but now I’m rethinking and might bite the bullet and get into purchasing a Calcium Reactor system.

I’m looking into purchasing a new calcium reactor system that is more like an all in one and relatively simple to use. I really don’t want to purchase a calcium reactor, then have to purchase other supporting equipment for it like , different manufacture pumps, regulators, bubble counters etc. But not opposed to doing so if I really need to.

My preference for the reactor is to have a built in pH probe holder and have a built in-pump already with it.

Mind you that this tank is only a 37 Gal tank that is SUMPLESS, I run a HOB skimmer ( Aquamaxx Cone S HOB). I don’t have a lot of SPS but would like to eventually keep some, current process isn’t SPS friendly. Figuring a Cal Reactor would help with that. It is being controlled by a ReefKeeper.

To go back to my question, I’m looking for a good All in one Cal Reactor recommendation but no looking to break the bank on a monster set up as I don't have plans on upgrading to a much larger tank in the future.

Currently, I’m looking into Korallin C-1502 Calcium Reactor Package includes; C-1502 Calcium Reactor, AquaMaxx Dual Gauge Professional CO2 Regulator, 5 lb. CO2 Cylinder (Empty) and CaribSea 8 lbs Reactor Media. I probably would also have to get a pH contoller as well (thinking PinPoint)

I want a reactor system I can have external from the tank that I can sit in the cabinet under the tank along with my other aquarium supplies as I don't run sumps.

Other reactors I’m considering are the following: Not my primary pick as they are not complete like not having a pump, built in bubble counter or other needed aspects of performance.

Bubble Magus C150-1AT Calcium Reactor

AquaMaxx Star Nano Calcium Reactor orAquaMaxx cTech T-1 Calcium Reactor
GEO 6x12 White Calcium Reactor with Sicce Syncra Pump

Would like your opinions as I’m a novice when it comes down to Reactors.

Thanks in advance

If you need any questions answered regarding our GEO CR612 please PM. As far as your concerns: 1. yes it comes with a pH holder. 2. yes, comes with a Sicce Syncra 1.5 as a circulation pump 3. yes, comes with a built in bubble counter 4. yes, can be run externally no sump required (you will need to feed water to the reactor via small pump. We recommend MJ1200 or Sicce Syncra 0.5 this can be put in your aquarium. GEO CR612 comes with feed tubbing harness for these pumps).

If i understand correctly you have a ReefKeeper controller? You can take the pH probe from it and put it into the GEO CR612 to control and monitor pH. Plug your electronic regulator into an open outlet on the ReefKeeper and program it to maintain a pH of 6.6 in the GEO CR612. There are more details but thats the basics.

Have you considered using dosing pumps hooked up to your reef keeper? Thats what I would do.

I run a CaRx in my sps tank but only after 2 part dosing was unrealistic.

Carx are great but IMHO not plug and play and forget as it is so often persieved.

Do you have an ATO? If so, you could dose Kalk through it and that would help things steady and you wouldn't have to dose daily. You already have to fill up the ATO tank from time to time. It's not much extra work to throw in some powder. Kalk would surely keep up with demand if you don't have much SPS. Plus, it's nearly free.

I use Aquarium Engineering equipment. Bill's reactors are custom made and have the best warrantee out there .
Take a look at his sight. I you need extra goodies added on give him a shout.
I have recommended his products to Quite a few people .
Happy Reefing

I use marine technical and I love it, previously I was using a korralin.

Hello All,

Thank you for the replies. Although I don't run sumps I do use a Tunze Auto Top off connected to a 5gal jug. Time to time I add additives to the jug, put kalkwasser in there as well for added calcium. I also dose 2 part for now. I'm just looking into something automatic in the case I cannot work on my tank due to future work travels etc.

I'm also slightly concerned about evac gasses as I do time to time open windows to put in fresh air in the condo but just wary of the potential gases emitted by the reactor.

That looks good,

Just received mail from a buddy that is willing to let me test out the same reactor with all the components to see how I like it, including tank, media etc. That may finally push me to try. Gotta measure my cabinet foot print to ensure I can fit this in.
